Wich company is cooler in your opinion?
Alpina
or Dinan?
I understand that Dinan has some sort of dealer/factory support in the US, so that vehicles that are equipped with their parts keep their warranty, and are eligible for CPO programs, which is nice. There's also a racing heritage, and they are still supplying race teams with engines.
An Alpina however is a completely different make. It's not a BMW. It says "Alpina" in the title under "make", which is a nice conversation piece if you want to end up in a "my ten worst dates" list. Alpina also tends to build the more classy, yet also more sedate cars. A 3/5 series Alpina usually is a bit more comfortable and less exciting than it's M-Gmbh cousin. Oh, and developing and selling cars isn't even their only business. these days, they make a lot of money selling wine.
So, which one is cooler? Which company do you respect more?
For me, it would be wine seller and occasional maker of sedate cars, Alpina. Why? One simple reason, Dinan is non-existant, and completely unheard of in Europe. If you want to make a name by modifying cars, you should have some sort of representation on their home turf. That is my opinion, but twhat do you think?

Alpina.
Dinan is...well, they don't really excite me.
Alpina has got a hell of a lot of class and they turn every single BMW they touch into a competent and potent grand tourer.
I'd happily go poor for a B5. I wouldn't for a Dinan package.

What about AC Schnitzer?
or HARTGE?
I'll have an Alpina or Hartge.

G-Power is not remotely on the same level as Dinan or Alpina.
G-Power is not factory approved or even sold in BMW dealerships.
RTFA next time.

Not technically factory approved or sold in dealers.

Dinan is simply a tuner. I feel Alpina is more of a brand. Like how RUF isn't a Porsche, but a separate car. Because of that, Alpina is cooler. Also, Alpina wheels!

Hartge is, as Alpina, considered a separate manufacturer with their own VIN-numbers. Both Hartge and AC Schnitzer keep the BMW warranty, and they have a dealer-network.
Alpina might interact more with BMW development, but there is no reason to not include these two.

O.K. Hartge has built some really hardcore stuff. They definitely deserve a spot on the podium. Maybe third???

I've spent a ton of time in an Alpina B5 (E60) and I didn't expect to like them as much as I did. Effortless blasting, with a touch of individuality. Do like.
